By late December the heavy promotional spending of the November period is over, and most providers settle back toward their standard introductory pricing. A festive banner in December is more often a design change than a pricing change.
That is not a reason to avoid buying in December. It is a reason to buy on the merits of the plan rather than on the assumption that a seasonal window is saving you money. The table above shows what the plans cost right now, which is the only comparison that settles the question.

Buying the plan in December is fine. Cutting over a live, revenue-generating site in December is a choice that has caught out a lot of people. If the site matters, schedule the migration for a normal working week and let the new plan sit unused for a few days. Those days cost far less than an outage.
